  • Crypto Market Structure Bill Draft Released 

A bill to overhaul crypto regulation in the US has had a draft released by the Senate Agriculture Committee, proposing oversight on spot digital commodity trading be given to the CFTC.

  • SEC Taxonomy May Reclassify Crypto Securities 

SEC Chair Paul Atkins is looking to reassess which cryptocurrencies are defined as securities, and if classification could change over time as projects mature and circumstances change.

  • Japan to Overhaul Crypto Regulation

By April 2026 Japan will implement sweeping changes to its crypto regulation, from token reclassification to lowering taxes, whilst tightening regulatory control to traditional standards.

  • India Deems Cryptocurrency ‘Property’

In a move that strengthens protections for owners and investors, the Madras High Court recognised crypto as legal property, providing legal status but also regulatory requirements.

  • Canada to Regulate Stablecoins

Legislation for fiat-backed stablecoins is imminent in Canada as the country strengthens regulations, requiring sufficient reserves, redemption policies and risk management for issuers.

  • Australia Seeks to Merge Crypto Services with Financial Laws

A bill from the Australian Treasury is seeking to fold crypto service providers into the country’s existing financial laws, requiring financial licenses and strengthening regulatory controls.

  • UAE Regulatory Crackdown on Crypto

Legislation in the United Arab Emirates gives criminal penalties for businesses who offer residents blockchain services, including wallets and blockchain explorers, without authorization.

  • Kazakhstan Embraces Cryptocurrency 

A new law in Kazakhstan sees restrictions simplified and relaxed around crypto use and regulation, including changes to mining restrictions, issuing assets and operating exchanges.

  • Turkmenistan to Legalize Crypto

From the first of January 2026, cryptocurrency will be legalized in Turkmenistan as the country introduces legislation that will see licensing requirements and structured regulatory framework.
